The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe in the frames of the project ‘Support for the Consolidation of Local Democracy in Armenia” organized two seminars on “Promoting citizen participation in Armenia” in Yeghegnadzor and Aghveran on 14 and 16 July, 2015.

The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe in the frames of the project ‘Support for the Consolidation of Local Democracy in Armenia” organized two seminars on “Promoting citizen participation in Armenia” in Yeghegnadzor and Aghveran on 14 and 16 July, 2015.




During the breakout sessions Antonella Valmorbida shared her deep knowledge on European experience and presented the possibilities of citizens’ participation and the use of the Code of Good Practices of the Conference of INGOs. Lusine Aleksndryan got more engaged in the discussion and presentation of the participatory ways and corresponding legislation on citizens’ participation in Armenia.





These seminars enabled almost 200 representatives of communities get better understanding and skills of on citizens’ participation in decision-making processes at the local level, how to engage and motivate the communities in daily processes. After the seminars Antonella Valmorbida and Lusine Aleksandryan elaborated guidelines on citizens’ participation including main points on the concept, Armenian legislation, European experience and tools for promoting citizens’ participation.
