“Career entry and intercultural exchange between German and Armenian youth”

     In November-December 2021 “Local Democracy Agency” foundation in cooperation with Empowerly organisation based in Germany implemented a project “Career entry and intercultural exchange between German and Armenian youth” financed by Civil Society Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. The project targeted 27 schoolchildren from Gyumri to participate in the workshops. Four workshops were implemented: “(Local) Democracy and Human Rights”, Self -presentation/CV writing, Getting ready for an interview”, Digital competencies and practical work” with the active participation of schoolchildren and skilled experts.

   As the proof of the gained knowledge on video editing programs the schoolchildren were divided into three groups and prepared three small videos referring to the nature protection. They took photos and shots in the adjacent areas of the city, Gyumri river.

The final conference of the “Career Entry – Intercultural Exchange for Armenian-German Youth” project took place on December 18 in Berlin Art hotel. Lusine Alexandryan, director of “Local Democracy Agency” foundation, presented the results of the project, spoke out the work done by the youth and the results registered. As part of the project, young people from Germany Leone Klocke presented the topic “Video programs, why, when, how”, that included information on how to make self-presentation to the employer, make interesting videos, and Eva-Lotta Biesalski presented the collaboration with the University of Halle Wittenberg spoke about the history, culture, universities of the city of Halle, how Armenian youth can apply for scholarships to study at German universities. Our compatriot Hasmik Kostanyan, who lives in Germany, also joined the conference online, who spoke about the opportunities and advantages that Armenian youth have in case of studying in Germany.

In the frames of the project, the participants were divided into 3 groups presenting “Smoking is harmful”, “Gyumri river”, “Waste management” prepared videos. Questions and answers took place among the groups, after which the jury took a decision for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The winner was the group of young people making a video on “Gyumri River”. The second place was gifted for a video on “Waste management” and the third place – “Smoking is harmful”. The award ceremony took place at the end of the conference, all the participants were given presents. The prize of the winning team was a two-day tour to Tsakhkadzor. 19 The excitement and joy of the young people continued around the banquet table, the young people from each team cut the symbolic cake of the program.
