“Local Democracy Agency” foundation commenced a cooperation in the frames of project “ARMAT” at promoting community development and cooperation with local authorities, enhancing the benevolent initiatives with project author Angelina Fitoz to implement jointly different benevolent activities.
ARMAT is a project for those that have Armenian roots, for those that feel the ties, for those that have lost these ties or still in search for. For those that were born here but left, for those that live abroad but have Armenian blood. For everybody that strives for this land: from memory, from love, from an inner feeling.
Armat (арм.Արմատ)-originates from Armenian like roots symbolizing the bonds with the motherland, where we were born even if we live abroad.
We believe that it is realistic to put down roots – just through planting a tree, cultivating a garden, bring life to this land with our own hands. It is available for everybody regardless the place and engagement.
Planting a tree in Armenia isn’t just a gesture. It is a bond.
But each tree carries an ideology.
Currently in Yerevan and in other cities of Armenia we feel the lack of green zones and air pollution. The trees gradually disappear being cut down and new trees are rarely planted.
Armat project seeks to bring back trees to Armenia.
While planting a tree we don’t only bring back the roots we are willing but enable with the opportunity to take a deep fresh air for our cities, people, children. Project Armat is the initiative of Angelina Fitoz /Vardanyan/ that grew up abroad and Armenian traditions were a part of her life but the feeling of bonds with Armenia didn’t show up immediately.
Inclusive Plaground
One of the first steps of the project is the creation of an inclusive playground in Artik, Shirak region of Armenia. It aims to be a place where the kids can play, make friends and grow together regardless their physical peculiarities.
The playground won’t be just a game place but also a point for bringing forward the values: kindness, courage and friendship.
On the territory of the playground lots of trees will be planted that will become a part of the project philosophy: reminding that taking care of the earth and each other starts from the early childhood.
